Speaking

Do you want to motivate and inspire youth to be interested in math, science and engineering? Maybe all it takes is to see how something as simple and irrelevant as Ax2 + Bx + C = 0 actually applies to business models, population growth in biology, painting a building, trajectories, or parabolic mirrors. If you are tired of “finding X”, then maybe you need a more interesting approach to seeing math in the world around us.

I have been speaking to school groups since I was in college and cover topics as wide-ranging as engineering, fire science and behavior, wilderness survival, construction, and understanding the forest. I believe that the most important thing is inspiring the audience to want to find out more. Students are tired of being lectured at and thrive at becoming part of the discovery.
