Hello world!

Welcome to the world of The Innovators. This book was birthed from my passion to connect with youth to inspire them to create, believe in themselves, and not be afraid to move forward in life. I started creating characters that reminded me of students that I knew. Sometimes I visualized their potential future and wanted to write the story of their development into that person. As a 16-year-old, they don’t realize their amazing potential, talents, abilities and are crawling on their knees through the tall grass of social situations, family-life, school, and all the quagmires those entail. From my vantage point, I see them staring at the grass, the unknowns, being overwhelmed with it all, but I see the landscape ahead. I see that if they just stood up they could see a bit more of their bright future amidst the thorny distractions. This book series seeks to provide a glimpse into the future of what I already see.

Studious youth are often left in a world of hanging in the shadows of their schools. The popular ones and athletes dominate the center of the school, the quad, the best grassy patch, but the nerds prefer to find the classroom of the compassionate teacher, the hallway with the strange alcove, or the odd table in the back corner of the campus. There, they share stories, much like other students, about relationships, family, and schoolwork, but they also talk about what they are learning.

This book series will follow these amazing kids on their adventures. Since I am an engineer by training and accuracy and realism are critical, I do a lot of research for the book and will share some of that research with you in this blog so you can be part of the process. Speaking of being part of the process and the community, I invite my readers to meet Mr. Alpin through the book Facebook page. You will be able to ask Mr. Alpin questions about class, engineering, projects, or anything. I am still setting up the page but here is the address. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheInnovatorsBooks
